Cerillo names Eric Mayton as Chief Executive Officer
Expansion of leadership expected to accelerate commercial growth opportunities and R&D
CHARLOTTESVILLE, December 22, 2020 — Cerillo, LLC, a privately held biotechnology company with the Stratus, a novel plate reader for life sciences applications as its lead product, today announced Eric Mayton, MBA, M.Sc., as its new Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Mayton, most recently a Senior Manager at IT management consulting firm CapTech Consulting, joins Cerillo after successful roles in consulting, private equity, and over a decade in life sciences industry. He steps into the CEO position to replace founding CEO Dr. Jason Papin. Dr. Papin will transition to the newly created role of Chief Product Officer, allowing him to focus on his passion for developing innovative technologies with his pursuits in academia.

After graduating from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry in 2007, Mr. Mayton began his career in scientific research at Virginia Commonwealth University. His time at VCU included hands-on experience within research laboratories and publications in peer-reviewed journals. Upon completion of his Master’s of Science in Biochemistry from VCU in 2011, Mr. Mayton held technical and business leadership roles in the laboratory diagnostic industry before returning to academia to achieve his Master’s in Business Administration at the University of Richmond in 2017. Successful stints in healthcare-focused private equity and management consulting followed. Mr. Mayton resides in Glen Allen, Virginia with his wife and daughter and has been an active member of the Central Virginia business and biotech communities for many years.
