CvilleBioHub Announces 2025 BioSpark Pitch Competition Participants

Charlottesville, VA September 9, 2025 –  CvilleBioHub, in partnership with Cooley, today announced the eight early-stage life sciences startups selected to present at the 2025 BioSpark Pitch Competition, taking place during the annual BioDiscovery Summit on September 18, 2025, at the Irving Theater in Charlottesville, VA.

BioSpark is a competitive live pitch event that spotlights pre-seed and seed-stage companies advancing solutions in therapeutics, diagnostics, medical devices, digital health, pharmaceuticals and other healthcare delivery. Finalists will pitch their innovations before a panel of expert judges and an audience of investors, industry leaders, and entrepreneurs, competing for $15,000 in cash prizes, in-kind professional services, and access to CvilleBioHub’s Commonwealth BioAccelerator.

“BioSpark highlights the entrepreneurial energy and scientific creativity shaping the future of life sciences,” said Nikki Hastings, PhD, President of CvilleBioHub. “By bringing together founders, investors, and industry experts, we’re building a platform that accelerates innovation and creates opportunities for companies to grow and move from lab to launch.”

“We’re proud to co-host BioSpark with CvilleBioHub and to support visionary founders who are tackling some of the most pressing challenges in healthcare,” said Matt Schwee, Partner, Cooley  LLP. “Events like this are essential for connecting emerging companies with the resources and networks they need to succeed.”

Past participants underscore the value of BioSpark as a launchpad. “I would definitely recommend BioSpark to other founders. I think they do a tremendous job of pulling in expertise and resources to really help these companies get started and to grow,” said Ben Holmes, CEO Nanochron, BioSpark winner 2024.
