Navion Neurosciences Announces the Closing of a $10.8 Million Seed Financing to Advance AI-Enabled Sodium Channel Therapeutics

Financing led by the Angelini Lumira Biosciences Fund to advance differentiated medicines for genetic epilepsies and chronic neuropathic pain
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — September 9, 2026 — Navion Neurosciences, Inc., a
preclinical-stage biotechnology company developing next-generation, AI-enabled
precision sodium channel therapeutics for neurological diseases, today announced the
first closing of a $10.8 million Seed financing, led by the Angelini Lumira
Biosciences Fund (launched in partnership with Angelini Ventures and managed by
Lumira Ventures), with participation from 3B Future Health Fund, UVA LVG Seed
Fund, Virginia Innovation Partnership Corporation, VTC Innovation Fund, and
Navion management.
Proceeds will support advancement of Navion’s lead programs in genetic epilepsy and
chronic neuropathic pain, and continued expansion of the company’s AI-enabled
sodium-channel discovery capabilities.
“Human genetics and advances in sodium-channel pharmacology are creating an
opportunity to design much more precise medicines for diseases driven by pathological
neuronal firing,” said Andrew J. Krouse, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of
Navion Neurosciences. “This financing allows us to advance differentiated programs
built around compelling NaV biology while continuing to expand a discovery platform
capable of generating multiple new medicines. We are excited to bring our team’s deep
knowledge and expertise in the ion-channel space to develop better treatments for
patients living with uncontrolled seizures and chronic pain.”
Navion is led by an experienced management and scientific team with decades of
expertise in neuroscience, medicinal chemistry, ion-channel biology and drug
development. Members of the leadership team previously built Cavion, a neurology-
focused ion-channel company acquired by Jazz Pharmaceuticals in 2019.
NaViGATion™ platform combines AI-enabled chemistry, structural and human
disease biology, and deep ion-channel expertise to accelerate the discovery and
optimization of differentiated sodium-channel medicines.
“Navion brings together compelling disease biology, differentiated sodium-channel
pharmacology and a highly experienced drug-development team,” said Gerry Brunk,
Managing Partner at Lumira Ventures. “We believe the company has the potential to
create important new medicines for patients with severe neurological diseases while
establishing a broader precision sodium-channel discovery platform.”
