At the Center for Open Science (COS), we conduct metascience research, build tools, and advocate for policy changes to make it possible and easy for the research community to make research data and outcomes open, transparent, and reproducible. COS is looking for a Deputy Director of Research with interest and experience in metascience and managing projects and teams. The position will provide an essential role in supporting operational, technical, financial, and other aspects of leadership to the research team to enable high performance, efficiency processes, and effective delivery of research projects to meet organizational goals. The research team collects evidence for developing, testing, and revising COS’s Theory of Change. Research and practice are two components of a virtuous cycle in which metascience provides evidence of the current state of research to inform product and policy interventions that are then evaluated to enable improvement of these interventions. This includes conducting metascience projects that assess the current state of practice, trials of potential solutions, and testing new designs and alternatives to the current systems of science. This role is ideal for an experienced metascience researcher or practitioner who is passionate about open science and is ready to support a high-performing team of over ten staff members to execute the COS research vision and strategy.
This is a fully remote position with a requirement to attend around 4 in-person meetings per year.
COS supports flexibility in work scheduling. Individuals who would like to work outside a 9am – 5pm Eastern Time (ET) schedule must work with their managers to establish core hours of availability. Modifications for different time zones will be considered for team collaboration.

Experience and Qualifications
