Director, Life Sciences Partner Relations

VIPC (Virginia Innovation Partnership Corporation)

The Director, Life Sciences Partner Relations will focus on representing VIPC externally and on leading and executing partnership initiatives and projects with public and private stakeholders to support life sciences and advanced pharma ecosystem development. The ideal candidate has direct knowledge, experience, and relations with Virginia’s, and particularly, Central Virginia’s, life sciences and advanced pharma ecosystem, organizations, and stakeholders.

In addition, the ideal candidate has demonstrated experience in community and ecosystem engagement, project management and execution, and multi-faceted stakeholder collaboration. The idea candidate is proactive, highly organized, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment by performing a variety of skilled tasks and interacting with diverse external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as VIPC’s day-to-day lead, external liaison, and project manager for:

  • Virginia Center for Advanced Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Workforce Training Center
  • Advanced Pharmaceutical Manufacturing (APM) Tech Hubs
  • Regional life science ecosystem collaboration
  • University and community college partnerships
  • Community initiatives
  • State agency collaboration in life sciences and APM
  • Ad-hoc executive projects
  • Support CEO and represent CEO / organization on an as-needed basis

Experience and Qualifications

  • Experience in health, life science, and advanced pharmaceutical manufacturing sectors
  • Knowledge / experience of Virginia’s, and particularly, Central Virginia’s, life science ecosystem, organizations, and stakeholders
  • Experience with public-private partnerships
  • Community engagement experience
  • Strong project management experience and skills; ability to produce timely deliverables
  • Ability to implement and execute project initiatives and tracked outcomes
  • External engagement with diverse, multi-faceted stakeholders
  • Experience with grant program conceptualization and administration
  • Liaison with internal and external stakeholders
  • Local and state government interaction / experience

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; project management training a plus
