Laboratory Specialist

-Performs fertility testing
-Performs quality control, calibration, maintenance, and proficiency testing in accordance with current laboratory procedures.
-Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.
-Help manage day-to-day operations in the laboratory.
-Analyze data, interpret results, and ensure all lab equipment meets quality controls.
-Maintain accurate records of test results, review, analysis, and interpretation of data.
-Make periodic presentations in group meetings and in project team meetings.

-Associate degree in a laboratory science, or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution.

-Bachelor or Master degree in Cell Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Biochemistry, or related field that includes either:
–24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses; or
–24 semester hours of science courses that include: 6 semester hours of chemistry; 6 semester hours of biology; and 12 semester hours of chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory technology in any combination.

-American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certified Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Specialist in Cytometry (SCYM) is preferred.
-Proficiency in developing and executing cell-based assays, cell staining methods, and flow cytometry.
-Working knowledge of good laboratory practices.
-Highly team-oriented, energetic, critical thinker.
-Well-organized with attention to detail.
-Capable of significant multitasking with excellent oral and written communication skills.

-Experience considered a plus:
–Previous work in a high-complexity clinical laboratory.
–Proficiency in the R programming language to generate reports that combine code and data visualizations.
