Laboratory Technician


Contraline is a venture-backed medical device company based in Charlottesville, Virginia. Contraline’s mission is to provide men and couples with long-lasting, safe and effective contraception. The company’s lead product is ADAM™, the world’s first injectable hydrogel designed to provide long-lasting, reversible contraception for men. The Company aims to use its hydrogel platform technology to address global reproductive health challenges that have no solutions and large unmet needs.

Contraline is seeking a Laboratory Technician to be a member of our research and development team. This will involve preparing and performing benchtop experiments on Contraline’s hydrogel technology. The Laboratory Technician should have strong, hands-on, and broad lab skills in addition to data management and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support general laboratory maintenance needs
  • Perform analytical tests on various chemicals, polymers, and solutions according to established protocols
  • Perform routine maintenance on laboratory equipment according to laboratory procedures; maintain all equipment logs and records
  • Perform special projects to support general R&D needs
  • Maintain documentation to Contraline’s highest standard
  • Assist with laboratory planning, inventory, and staff training

Experience and Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Biology
  • Prior research laboratory experience is preferred, but not required
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Maintains high attention to detail and cleanliness, with a willingness to try anything
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to new goals
