About the job
We are looking for a Mass spectrometry specialist to be responsible for analysis of InBio protein products and R&D samples by LC-MS/MS. The position involves mass spectrometry analytical services for contract research projects and customer supplied proteomic samples. The Mass Spectrometry Specialist will also be engaged with protein biomanufacturing, HPLC and project management to support allergen manufacturing, contract research and R&D.
Candidates should preferably have 3 years experience working with mass spec analyses, protein analysis and bioinformatic tools to process output data.

This position will be based at InBio headquarters in Charlottesville VA (on-site).

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and perform Mass Spectrometry workflows using a Thermofisher Q Exactive or a similar instrument to analyze proteomic samples.
  • Perform protein purification steps using HPLC to support manufacturing, contract research and R&D needs.
  • Routine maintenance of the Mass Spectrometer, HPLCs & equipment logs and records.
  • Data analysis and reports.

Experience and Qualifications

  • BS or MS degree in biology, biotechnology, or related biomedical subject.
  • Experience working in protein purification and protein analysis.
  • Hands-on experience with liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry, and use of bioinformatic tools for processing and interrogating mass spectrometric data.
  • Experience searching and reading the scientific literature to aide in developing / optimizing new mass spectrometry methodologies and interpreting data.
  • Organized and keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to organize lab tasks efficiently and meet timelines.
