Program Manager


CvilleBioHub is an industry-led, non-profit organization supporting Charlottesville’s biotechnology industry sector. The organization has demonstrated success in building community through unique programming; advancing entrepreneurship with a growing Entrepreneur-in-Residence program; and expanding impact with workforce and internship initiatives. A model sector-focused ecosystem developer in Virginia, CvilleBioHub is at the center of a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem with many partners across economic development, industry and academia.

The industry cluster is comprised of 75+ private/traded-sector companies working across all aspects of biotech/life sciences to advance human health through innovation. There are more than 2000 employees in the regional cluster and more than $400M invested to date. CvilleBioHub’s mission is to strengthen the regional biotechnology industry through engagement, resourcing and education.

The Program Manager will add depth to the growing organization in service to the companies in our region’s biotechnology sector. The opportunity to lead marketing and communications, manage programming and engage with one of the most fascinating and relevant industries awaits you! This role will report to the Executive Director and work with our Board Directors and industry leaders to execute on our strategic initiatives and programs, including:

  • Monthly programming (virtually and in-person as appropriate)
  • Circle of Leaders
  • Industry events
  • Entrepreneur-in-Residence (EIR) program
  • Ecosystem partner engagement
  • CHIP Internship program and related workforce initiatives
  • Diversity and Inclusion toolkit and programming

Key Responsibilities


  • Implement strategic plan together with Executive Director
  • Develop and nurture relationships within the organization’s biotech network and community, including C-suite leadership
  • Vision and lead our monthly programming for our broad industry and Circle of Leaders community
  • Own the event planning and operations within our community and in collaboration with partners in the greater regional ecosystem
  • Manage our workforce initiatives, including a summer internship Program, Career Board and Job Candidate Matching services
  • Plan and manage the website and all communications channels, including LinkedIn and Twitter
  • Spearhead and disseminate inbound and outbound communication for the organization
  • Partner with the Executive Director on thought leadership and PR opportunities to advance the interests of the organization and spotlight company and ecosystem successes
  • Build connections and engage with our partners in the broader entrepreneurial ecosystem

Experience and Qualifications


  • Detail oriented, ability to operate multiple programs and tasks simultaneously, genuinely excited to serve the community
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently and strategically
  • Nimble and creative with an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Experience in biotech, healthcare and/or related fields is preferred. Interest in these fields is a must!
  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree and 3 years of work experience is desired.
