The Focused Ultrasound Foundation, an entrepreneurial, high-performance, medical research, education, and patient advocacy not-for-profit organization in Charlottesville, VA, is seeking a Research Program Manager/Director to join our team. The candidate will have strong relationship management skills, an ability to translate complex problems into clear frameworks, and an entrepreneurial mindset. This position will direct one or more of the Foundation programs, manage the preclinical and veterinary research projects that the Foundation has funded, and relate the added knowledge to the other members of the research team. This position will use best-practice tools coupled with strong project management skills to ensure a well-controlled yet flexible process. As a lean, fast-paced, mission-driven organization, it is critical to not only understand the role but to work collaboratively across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage Foundation-funded research projects, including veterinary
  • Participate in the Funding Proposal process
  • Participate in the selection of project reviewers
  • Participate in the development of FUSF internal research protocols
  • Participate in the organization of workshops, roundtables, and webinars
  • Represent the Foundation at scientific meetings and fundraising events
  • Mentor Foundation Interns

Experience and Qualifications

Qualifications

  • PhD, MD, or DVM

Experiences and Skills

  • Number of publications and presentations appropriate for years of experience
  • Experience as a meeting organizer
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proven aptitude for Project Management
  • Experience with Grant Awards and Administration is preferred
  • Experience with veterinary research is preferred
  • Knowledge/experience with focused ultrasound is preferred
  • Knowledge/experience with immunotherapy is preferred
