This position is critical and working with all facets of operational accounting (GL, AP, AR, payroll, and reconciliations) to include assisting in the preparation of the monthly financial package, Board reporting package, and supporting annual audits and other regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure business transactions are reported in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles
- Work closely with team members to assist with the month-end close
- Assist with the annual audit process including the draft of the financial statements and related notes
- Research and analyze expense variances for company management
- Assists with the month-end and year-end closing process
- Prepares day-to-day and month-end close entries including revenue, payroll, prepaid expenses, unbilled accounts receivable, and accrued liabilities
- Prepares reconciliations for necessary balance sheet accounts and various other general ledger accounts, as needed
- Assists external auditors with preparing schedules, providing explanations of supporting materials and procedures, and preparing additional data
- Assists in the preparation of the client’s year-end 1099 submissions
- Recommends, designs, and implements department controls and procedures
- Works with project managers and principal investigators closely to monitor projects
- Disburses requests to colleagues to manage deadlines
- Supports Accounts Payable/Receivable function and performs as back up. The ideal candidate will have substantial exposure to monthly closing processes, forecasting and budgeting, and customer billing. They will be organized and approach each issue with an analytical mindset.
Experience and Qualifications
- 3+ years’ of professional accounting experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics or equivalent experience
- CPA preferred
