The Sr. Research Associate will play a key role in daily laboratory operations. This role is responsible for supporting novel drug screening activities, research projects, inventory, and lab management. The Sr. Research Associate will work independently and collaboratively with our supportive team of collegial administrators and scientists. Key Responsibilities

  • Execute aseptic cell culture techniques and cell-based assays
  • Maintain clean and stocked laboratory stations (buffer preparation, etc)
  • Remove cell culture and hazardous waste
  • Operate and oversee maintenance of autoclave, Laminar flow hoods, and other large laboratory equipment
  • Organize and maintain laboratory freezers and refrigerators
  • Organize laboratory inventory
  • Maintain tissue culture lab and other routinely used equipment
  • Data calculations and analysis
  • Participate in the design and execution strategy of projects with senior leadership team, maintain project timelines, and project deliverables
  • Communicate with directors to keep projects aligned with their goals
  • Perform quality control on projects and maintain laboratory standards
  • Follow laboratory Standard Operating Procedures and protocols
  • Collaborate on design, analysis, application, and reporting of research projects
  • Prepare analyses, reports, and other documentation for publication/presentation
  • Maintain accurate records of experiments and analyses
  • Operate and maintain sophisticated equipment to conduct research, analyze data, and report research findings; may instruct others in use of equipment
  • Provide technical leadership and consultation to co-workers and collaborators
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Experience and Qualifications

  • Masters Degree required (PhD preferred): Cell or Molecular biology, biotechnology, biomedicine, bioengineering
  • 5 Years of research experience (industry or academic)
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct experiments independently
  • Attention to detail and excellent note-taking and documentation
  • Experience following protocols and guidelines for lab operations autonomously
  • A sound understanding of personal and professional accountability
  • Abilty to embrace change and innovation positively and with enthusiasm
  • Exhibits professionalism in conduct and execution of duties
  • Ability to follow procedures to avoid contamination and maintain safety
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage and prioritize workload
  • Ability to apply diversified knowledge of scientific research principles, practices, and protocols in research projects; may make recommendations and conclusions which serve as the basis for decision-making
  • Demonstrated proficiency with electronic notebooks
  • Demonstrated proficiency in experimental design, execution and statistical analysis
  • Must be able to work productively in a fast-paced collaborative environment
  • Demonstrated ability for critical thinking and sound decision-making
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate well with others
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn new skills and contribute to the success of the organization
  • Willingness to “roll up sleeves” in a start-up environment
