MicroAire Surgical Instruments, LLC. is a fast-growing medical device company seeking a Senior Project Manager as a key leader responsible for planning and directing the execution of new product development initiatives within the long-term product master plan.

The Senior Project Manager reports into the Program Management Office and engages a variety of functional areas to effectively lead projects and ensure executional compliance to company and industry requirements. Clear thinking and strong communication skills are essential for successful project planning, project execution, and reporting of project quality, cost, and schedule performance to management. Assigned projects are primarily new product introductions that are elements of product roadmaps for respective product lines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership: Leads mid-sized cross functional development teams complying to internal SOP’s toward the goal of on-time delivery of initiatives per company strategic plans. Continually keeps team focused on achievement of intermediate goals which enable the ultimate success of the project.
  • Executing Duties of QMS and Design Controls: Develops and maintains Design and Development Plans. Creates Design History File (DHF) structure and populates Design Controls deliverables per applicable SOP’s. Responsible for tracking and ensuring all action items from Design Reviews and other activities are closed in a timely manner and documented. Responsible for obtaining all design control checklist approvals for each project phase’s tollgate.
  • Communication and Status Reporting: Interfaces with many company departments as well as consultants, vendors, surgeons, and others to ensure effective team performance, compliance, quality, and achievement of intermediate and ultimate project goals. Reports milestones and necessary deliverables to project teams in regular meetings. Reports project quality, cost, and schedule performance to management.
  • Project Management: Participates in early project requirements definition and drives for clarity in understating of deliverables necessary for project completion and success. Develops and maintains electronic Critical Path Schedules (CPS) for each assigned project. Manages project budgets and performs regular and ad-hoc reporting. Monitors COGS and environmental factors throughout project life to ensure business value of project. Identifies, communicates and actively mitigates project risk throughout the project life cycle with both project teams and management. Evaluates potential changes in requirements to control project scope and ensure that committed objectives are met.
  • Teamwork: Displays creativity and resilience in the face of obstacles. Collaborates with peers and team members with a can-do attitude and value for others. Identifies opportunities in executional methods and drives improvements to released procedures and informal operating mechanisms.

Experience and Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Engineering discipline or Master’s degree a plus.
  • Minimum 5 plus years experience in project management or 5 years experience in direct leadership of others with management of complex projects. Desirable qualifications include Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and experience with medical devices, regulations, design controls, FDA 510(k), clinical studies, manufacturing systems, and quality systems.
