BioSparkVA is a competitive live pitch event for life sciences start-ups, co-hosted by CvilleBioHub.  The event will be held Thursday, September 26, 2024  at 9:00 am at the Irving Theater, 225 W. Water Street  in Charlottesville. 
  • After an application process, eight companies will be invited to deliver a pitch before a panel of judges and an audience of life sciences investors. 
  • Pitches will consist of 8-minute presentations plus 5 minutes of Q&A with the panel of judges, and up to 15 slides.
  • Participating companies may be eligible for cash prizes and in-kind professional services. 
BioSparkVA Eligibility Criteria
  • Companies need not be based in Virginia
  • Open to companies that are established entities and have raised early seed funding.
  • Companies must not have raised more than $10 million in funding
  • Companies may only enter one product or service
The submitted product or service must fall under one of the following categories:
  • Therapeutics
  • Digital Health
  • Medical Device
  • Diagnostics
  • Healthcare Adjacent Tech
Pitches will consist of 8-minute presentations plus 5 minutes of Q&A with the panel of judges. Participating companies may be eligible for cash and other prizes.  BioSpark VA Judging Criteria Customer and Problem – 20% Who is the product/solution targeted to and why?  Solution and Benefits – 20% Does the product successfully address the stated problem?  Innovation – 20% What makes the solution unique, better, or different?  Ability to Execute – 20% Is the team experienced, capable and possessing the expertise needed to execute?  Effective Presentation – 20% Application Deadline: July 15, 2024 Notifications will be made by August 15, 2024
