Engineering Program Manager

RIVANNA is seeking an experienced Engineering Program Manager to contribute to the rapid growth of our emerging medical device company. You will work with a talented team of professionals as we strive to achieve our mission of improving global human health.

The ideal candidate has prior successful experience managing complex biomedical research. This is a hands-on multidisciplinary role in which the right candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, hardware engineers, mechanical engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders, to ensure successful engineering program execution and timely delivery.

The Engineering Program Manager will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of engineering projects from inception to completion.

The primary focus will be on managing project timelines, teams, and resources. You will also be responsible for identifying and mitigating risks, communicating progress and status updates, and ensuring that all project deliverables meet or exceed expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage project timelines, interdisciplinary teams, and resources to ensure timely and successful delivery of engineering projects
  • Work with cross-functional teams to define project scope, requirements, and deliverables
  • Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, and priorities, and ensure that they are communicated and updated regularly
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, and work with teams to develop contingency plans as needed
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration across teams and manage stakeholder expectations throughout the project lifecycle
  • Ensure that project deliverables meet or exceed expectations and that quality standards are upheld throughout the project lifecycle
  • Monitor project progress and status, providing regular updates to stakeholders and leadership
  • Monitor and approve engineering expenses against budget
  • Manage engineering external subcontracts and report on their progress against schedule and budget
  • Write engineering progress reports for funding agencies
  • Manage the engineering program risk and issue logs

Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
  • At least 5 years of experience in technical engineering fields, including a track record of successful project delivery
  • Experience managing product development programs of similar size
  • Strong technical background in software/hardware engineering, and experience managing projects in an agile development environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with experience leading teams of project managers and other resources
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining attention to detail and a high level of quality
  • Experience with project management tools and methodologies, such as Jira, Agile, and Waterfall
  • PMP preferred
