The formulation chemist serves as a technical expert who: supports new product application submissions, new product improvements, quality improvements, new formulation agents, formulation compatibility testing, and stability testing for storage conditions (both dry and liquid).
AgroSpheres is a venture-backed startup company working on the cutting edge of agriculture biotechnology. AgroSpheres has developed a novel bioparticle platform technology, the AgriCell, derived from bacteria currently outfitted for the agriculture industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Develops new or improved formulas, products, and/or processes
- Applies advanced, novel formulation technologies toward the creation of new products.
- Identifies, obtains, and investigates new raw materials and production technologies as necessary, along with appropriate safety/technical information, specifications, samples, etc
- Analyze the compatibility of various solvents with the AgriCell technology
- Revise/reformulate existing formulas
- Work together with QC to conduct all required stability tests
- Actively maintains knowledge about the most current technical and industry trends
- Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) when and where applicable to job-related responsibilities within the R&D Department
- Identify and create new formulations for encapsulation and storage
- Experience scaling a formulation from lab to pilot to commercial. Experience with large-scale mixers and formulation equipment
Experience and Qualifications
- Agrochemical Formulation and Encapsulation Experience
- Bench to pilot experience preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant science (chemistry, food, chemical engineering, or related pharmaceutical science). Master’s or Ph.D. preferred. Hands-on experience working in the Ag Inputs sector
- 5+ years of experience in the formulation in new product and process development and commercialization, preferable in the agriculture industry
