Mechatronics Engineer

Luna Labs

Luna Labs is seeking a Mechatronics Engineer with hands-on mechatronics experience that is eager to apply their background to a diverse set of biomedical applications. The candidate must be able to complete advanced design and 3D printing/rapid prototyping for varied mechanical, mechatronic, or microfluidic systems.

The candidate will be able to independently perform design and prototyping tasks while collaborating with a team for a variety of currently funded biotech programs in the medical diagnostic, environmental diagnostic, or wearable physiological sensor fields.

This team of biomedical engineers, molecular biologists, materials scientists, chemists, and biophysicists drives advancements in medical technology through close partnerships with clinicians and external researchers. We work in fields as diverse as wound healing, clinical diagnostics, medical simulation, and drug and vaccine delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Required experience includes:

Solidworks CAD design, sensor/actuator integration and testing, rapid prototyping/additive manufacturing.

Preferred experience includes:

Matlab, Python, and microcontroller programming, biomedical device development.

Role/Responsibilities:

  • Assists in concept development to define the electromechanical design of a technology
  • Assists in device prototyping efforts, including identification and selection of relevant hardware and integration into working prototypes
  • Designs and carries out experiments to test prototypes, including testing with biological samples, data analysis, and mechanical characterization
  • Writes clear, concise, and timely reports to document results
  • Discusses work performed and future development efforts at weekly meetings

Experience and Qualifications

Education:

Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or relevant, and 3+ years of relevant experience in Device Design and Product Development.

  • The candidate should have previous experience working on multiple fast-paced projects simultaneously and have a demonstrated ability to multitask, troubleshoot, and optimize technical objectives
  • A passion for learning and applying the state-of-the-art in engineering to develop products with biomedical applications is required
