RIVANNA is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Benefits and Payroll Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of employee benefits administration and payroll processing.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of benefits and payroll regulations, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
This is a part-time, 32-hour-per-week position.
Key Responsibilities
Benefits Administration:
- Oversee the administration of employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other voluntary benefits
- Coordinate open enrollment processes and communicate benefit changes to employees
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations, including the Affordable Care Act (ACA)
Payroll Processing:
- Process and manage payroll for employees accurately and in a timely manner
- Verify timekeeping records and resolve any discrepancies or issues
- Calculate and process payroll deductions, including taxes, benefits, and garnishments
- Prepare and distribute payroll reports to relevant stakeholders
- Compliance and Recordkeeping
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records related to benefits and payroll
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, such as the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and IRS guidelines
- Assist with audits and respond to inquiries from regulatory agencies
Employee Support:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employees regarding benefits and payroll-related inquiries
- Assist employees with enrollment processes, claims resolution, and other benefits-related matters
- Provide guidance and support to employees on payroll-related issues and inquiries
Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements in benefits administration and payroll processing
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and data integrity
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes affecting benefits and payroll
Experience and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred
- Proven experience in benefits administration and payroll processing
- Strong knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations related to benefits and payroll
- Familiarity with HRIS systems and payroll software; experience with ADP, Paychex, or similar platforms is a plus
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Exceptional organizational and time management abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism
- HR certification (e.g., Certified Payroll Professional, Certified Employee Benefits Specialist) is desirable but not required
